Why I hate Socialism

I have to say, that one thing I really hate these days is Socialism.  I cannot stand it when my tax dollars are used for needless social programs that are littered with waste.  Below are a few examples of programs that I cannot stand:

  • Public Schools.  I cannot stand sending my kids to school for free.  That sucks.  I would much rather send my kids to a for profit private school that pays it's teachers next to nothing.
  • The Fire Department.  Why would I want someone to put out a fire at my house when I pay a private company for water service that I can use myself.
  • The Police Department.  Okay so I really dislike these guys.  They are essentially tax collectors and revenue generators for local governments.
  • Roads.  I cannot stand to glide down the road without bouncing around on a dirt road.  I would much rather bounce around on rock and mud on my way to work.
  • Medicare.  I know that my in-laws and parents cannot stand to receive affordable health care in their retirement.
  • Social Security.  Get rid of it.  Wall Steet investment bankers are much more trustworth than the government when it comes to saving for the future.
  • Libraries.  Who needs free books when you can just buy them from Amazon.
  • Military.  Why in the world would we want to protect ourselves or even provide life saving services?  We should just arm every citizen.  Why wouldn't that work?

All of the above are examples of rampant misuse of tax dollars to create a socialist state and I for one am absolutely sick of it.  Privatization of everything is always the answer.  Why would we ever want to be part of a system in which students are ranked in the top 5 in the world or get free tuition to a university?  Why would we want a penal system with a low recitivism rate. So this election cycle I am voting for whoever eliminates all taxes and shuts down as much of the government as possible.

G-O-P it's dynamite...

Well, the day has come.  The new republican controlled house will begin the process of re-injecting some GOP blood into the veins of congress.  Up first, repealing the Obama health care bill, capping congressional spending, and cutting billions out of the national budget.  Good start, I guess.

If the GOP are really going to repeal the health care bill, they need to have a better plan.  They have to eliminate the funneling of money directly to the insurance companies and they have to ensure that any government backed insurance plan is not for profit.  That is huge.  Giant corporations should not improve their profit margin on the backs of tax payers.  Also, why not adapt the VA style of health care.  Adjust it of course, but create a health care system with dedicated hospitals, clinics, etc... for government backed health care.

Capping or freezing the congressional budget, cool.  I am good with that.   Stop voting for  pay raises and cut expense accounts by at least 20% for congressmen and their staff and we would be off to a good start.

As far as cutting the budget, I hope that the GOP is careful.  They could cut the wrong program and wind up in danger of being voted out in a few years.  They need to focus on the basics.  The things in the budget that sustain and nurture life.  Education (add teachers instead of remove), public safety, clean air and water, subsidies for farmers to grow local produce to reduce imports, and of course the aforementioned health care legislation.  They need to  increase aid to fight domestic poverty and hunger and, for the near future, eliminate aid to foreign countries with the exception of natural disaster.  We all know that the majority of aid sent only ends up in the hands of dictators and warlords to begin with.

A few more things to consider.  1) Reevaluate our trade agreements with China and Mexico.  While NAFTA created a partial boom, we need to look at placing additional tariffs on goods coming into the US.  True, this would ruffle a few feathers, but with the world using China as a tax loophole is a no no.  2)Consider proposing the relocation of foreign based military bases to economically depressed parts of our own country.  We shouldn't be feeding the local economy of Germany billions of dollars 65 years after WWII.  They are doing just fine now. Creating new bases domestically would literally create boom towns where ever you put them. 3)Dump the IRS and introduce a flat tax on goods and services.  We all know there are potentially tens of millions of people living in this country that work under the table.  Illegal immigrants, criminals, or day workers all work for cash and avoid paying taxes.  Why should working, legal citizens of this country be the only ones who bare the tax burden.

With that, good luck GOP.  I hope you do well.  I know that you will probably blow it but just consider for a few minutes actually being conservative (financially).  Also, forget about regulating social issues.  Who really cares about gay marriage and legalizing pot.  Vodka and Oxycontin are just as dangerous and are readily available.  Here is to at least a couple of years of bi-partisan government.  I am praying you do well.

California Government Distracts Voters

Dear state and local officials in my home state of California,

Please stop distracting voters with the Gay marriage debate.  You are only making the problem worse.  19 billion in the hole and you are wasting time, money, and energy to decide matters of the heart.  How about figuring out a way to tax the billions in income that is earned by migrant workers. Or, how about trying to figure out how to keep entertainment, manufacturing, and agricultural jobs from fleeing the state.  My point being, there are bigger fish to fry.

One more thing, the hippies who want Marijuana legalized had better get out and vote for Jerry Brown.  Meg Whitman will certainly not put up with legalizing the mary jane, no matter how much revenue it can generate.
